China has been drawing for over fifteen years, and she’s created a series of drawing videos for you to follow and improve your skills. These five lessons teach you how to shade confidently, explore different ways of getting great results, and help you to switch off and relax.
Creating Your Own
You will create 5 artworks that help you to refine your shading technique and allow you to completely switch off from any other distractions. China will show you how to improve your drawing skills by focusing on your pencil work and allowing you to have fun at the same time. You are guaranteed to find a newfound love for shading after this class is finished.
What You’ll Do:
Fill In The Gaps – Try to match the grey in the white boxes to try and make them blend in with the printout. You’ll need to print this page out so you can shade it on top of it.
Symmetry – Here, you’re trying to see if you can finish the drawing by making the empty side the same as the right. Follow the steps to build your nose up, from geometric shapes to full detailed shading.
Value Scale – See if you can shade 10 squares using just 1 pencil, and then try again using different once’s! This is great for practising even tones and learning how to see better. You can explore this in more depth with our other class.
Grid Method – Perfect for drawing something from scratch and keeping it in proportion. This is great to have a completed project you’re proud of.
Metal – Drawing metallic objects isn’t as tricky as it seems. It’s actually really satisfying! China’s provided a pre-made grid in case you want to hit the ground running, or feel free to make your own.
