Great Course - Informative and Not a Big Time Commitment
This is a very good course to learn some new skills about Excel you probably don’t know anything about! If you need a refresher on Pivot Tables, Thomas covers it nicely in the first part of the course. He also adds things like calculated fields and calculated items if you haven’t done those in Pivot Tables yet. But on to the good stuff — Power Queries are a great way of cleaning up data, adding additional calculations, and sourcing data from other workbooks and even the web. Power Queries can also add data to a Data Model which you use in Power Pivot. Power Pivot can give you similar functions you might expect from relational databases but entirely within Excel. He then ends with showing you some features in Power Pivot that don’t show up in regular Pivot Tables. Thomas gives you a nice student file with data you can practice on.
You can get this course done in an afternoon and have useful skills you can take with you on your next Excel project. Give it a try!
